Jungheinrich AME: compact, robust and powerful

Jungheinrich AME: compact, robust and powerful

The new generation of Jungheinrich AME electric pedestrian pallet trucks sets new standards in the 3.1 segment*. They are designed to meet the demands of modern logistics, retail, and production environments, where efficiency and reliability are becoming increasingly important. They enable faster and more efficient goods handling, while their advanced ergonomic design and safety features ensure more comfortable, safer, and less physically demanding operation for the user.

Faster logistics pace requires electric support

Modern logistics is becoming increasingly fast and demanding. Companies face daily challenges such as:

  • increased flow and frequency of goods and the need for faster and more efficient goods handling,
  • labour shortages,
  • higher safety standards,
  • need for lower operating costs.

In such conditions, classic manual pallet trucks are increasingly unable to keep up with the demands of modern logistics processes, as their operation requires considerable physical effort and limits handling efficiency. When handling heavier loads, they place an additional burden mainly on less physically strong users, while long-term use increases the risk of injuries due to repetitive movements and strain.

Therefore, companies are increasingly turning to electric pedestrian pallet trucks with lithium-ion technology, which enable faster, safer and significantly less strenuous work without demanding infrastructure.

AME: in-house development by Jungheinrich

Models AME 15 and AME 18 are the result of in-house development by Jungheinrich and production in its own factory, which enables a high level of control over quality and technology. For users, this is reflected in reliable operation, long service life of the trucks, good availability of spare parts, and support from Jungheinrich’s extensive service network.

AME 15 (load capacity 1500 kg) and AME 18 (load capacity 1800 kg) are distinguished by a combination of:

  • compact dimensions,
  • low dead weight,
  • excellent driving performance,
  • robust construction,
  • ergonomic controls,
  • modern lithium-ion technology,
  • and the reliability of the Jungheinrich brand.

These features place them among the most powerful electric pedestrian pallet trucks in the mid-range segment*.

Compact design and powerful drive

  • The short L2 length (truck length without forks) enables easy operation in narrow spaces.
  • Thanks to excellent maneuverability, they are especially suitable for use in retail, warehouses, and other space-restricted working environments.
  • Low dead weight allows use on trucks, lifting platforms, and mezzanines.
  • A powerful drive motor ensures reliable performance even on ramps.
  • Simultaneous driving and lifting capability enables faster and more efficient work.
  • Smooth and stable driving even under heavier loads.
  • Two driving modes (2.5 km/h and 5.5 km/h) allow flexible use depending on the working environment and task requirements.

Lithium-ion technology for uninterrupted operation

AME 15 is equipped as standard with a 48 V / 15 Ah lithium-ion battery, while the AME 18 model features a more powerful 48 V / 25 Ah battery. Both are also available as replacement batteries and are compatible with both AME models.

Key advantages of lithium-ion batteries :

  • - Opportunity charging (intermediate charging).
  • - Long service life (up to 1,000 full charge cycles).
  • - Fast and simple battery replacement.
  • - More efficient energy use and lower operating costs.

In addition, AME pallet trucks benefit from energy-saving features such as an easy standby mode and automatic shut-off after 30 minutes of inactivity, improving energy efficiency and availability.

Thanks to lithium-ion technology, the trucks operate reliably in various temperature conditions, as the batteries allow use from +5 °C to +45 °C, and up to 30 minutes of continuous operation at temperatures down to –10 °C.

Easy battery replacement

Charge anywhere, work anytime

AME 15 is equipped as standard with an external charger (8 A), which can be easily connected to a standard 230 V socket. The battery can be charged directly in the truck or independently outside of it. The full charging cycle for the 48 V / 15 Ah battery takes less than 2 hours.

AME 18 is equipped as standard with an integrated charger (10 A), enabling charging via a standard 230 V socket. Access to the connector is protected by a battery cover, while a flexible spiral cable ensures easy access to sockets in various working environments. The full charging cycle of the 48 V / 25 Ah battery takes approximately 2.5 hours. For the AME 18 model, an optional external charger is also available. The battery can be charged directly in the truck or removed and charged separately. This allows a spare battery to always be ready for use, contributing to higher truck availability and uninterrupted workflow.

Benefits for daily operations

  • battery charging without removal,
  • fast and simple opportunity charging,
  • operation without additional charging infrastructure.

Robust construction and easy maintenance

  • Reinforced steel construction increases torsional rigidity, reduces deformation under heavy loads, and contributes to a longer service life and more reliable operation of the truck.
  • Integrated support wheels contribute to improved stability during driving and load handling, especially with heavy, high, or unevenly distributed loads.
  • Drive and support wheels are protected by a steel guard, reducing the risk of damage and wear.
  • High ground clearance enables easy crossing of thresholds and reliable use on outdoor surfaces as well.
  • During the design of the AME trucks, special emphasis was placed on simple maintenance and servicing, contributing to lower costs and higher truck availability.

Advanced safety

  • PIN code access prevents unauthorized use.
  • A safety switch on the control handle automatically stops the truck upon contact with the operator, preventing collisions and operator injuries.
  • Steel protection of the drive and support wheels reduces the risk of foot injuries by preventing contact between the wheels and safety footwear.
  • The AME 18 includes overload protection, which prevents lifting in case of excessive load weight, reducing the risk of truck damage and increasing workplace safety.
  • Entry rollers at the fork tips enable easy entry into pallets, facilitate cross pallet handling and handling of closed pallets, and reduce the risk of fork jamming, sudden truck movements, and load damage.
  • The fork markings at a distance of 800 mm from the tip help determine the correct insertion depth for cross-handling Euro pallets and reduce the risk of pallet damage.

Ergonomics

  • The ergonomically designed control handle enables comfortable and precise operation.
  • Large butterfly-style travel switches ensure easy operation, even when wearing gloves.
  • Lift and lower buttons are positioned on both sides of the handle.
  • The creep speed function in the vertical handle position enables safe maneuvering in confined spaces.
  • Continuous pressing of the "turtle" button activates the slow-speed function for precise and safe maneuvering in tight areas.
  • When the truck is switched on, an LED light strip on the control handle is activated.
  • The color display shows driving speed, battery charge status, and any fault messages.
  • Storage space on the battery cover allows convenient placement of work tools and accessories.

Why thoughtful equipment selection is essential

When selecting equipment for goods handling, do not focus solely on the initial purchase price. It is important that the truck or warehouse equipment matches the actual intensity of use, working environment, and process requirements. Although the initial investment in higher-quality and more technologically advanced equipment may be higher, it often pays off in the long run through higher productivity, fewer downtimes, lower maintenance costs, and a longer service life. Ergonomics and workplace safety also provide significant added value, as modern solutions reduce physical strain on operators, improve working comfort, and contribute to a safer and more efficient working environment. Overall, the right choice can mean not only more efficient work but also significant long-term savings for the company.
